Our favorite surf trip places: Where we like to go on a Surf Camp when we’re not surfing in Somo and Loredo
We love Somo region and, same as you, we love to enjoy the local surf culture and all the wonders of this magnificent land that is Cantabria. Many of us started in the world of surfing through a Surf Camp in Somo or in any other spot along the northern coast of Spain: Galicia, Asturias, Basque Country. We started with surf lessons taking a foamie and riding white water. Step by step, we progressed until we were able to take bigger waves and paddle into the line-up with confidence. Then, we feel the need to explore other beaches and, if possible, those that are way different than ours. We feel the desire to meet other enviroments, cultures and above all, new waves. That is why we’re sharing our 3 top surf trip places away from our surfhouse in Somo.
Sri Lanka: take your surfing to the next level while in paradise
Sri Lanka is one of the best destinations for a surf trip. It’s the perfect place to enjoy surfing while having an unforgettable experience. On the one side, the waves you’re going to find in Sri Lanka will allow you to improve quite quickly. On the other side, you won’t have any trouble finding a Surf Camp that can help you with this task, as most of them count with professional and renowned surf instructors such as Nikkita Robb. Moreover, it’s a place that has experienced a sustainable develpment in the last years. Tourism has increased in quality, the natural life is untouched, there is a big yoga culture and transport is safe. To sum up, a dreamplace where you will find a young and dynamic community around surf and yoga. With Bali’s permission, which is over-crowded with tourists, Sri Lanka offers endless possibilities for surfers of all levels, aspiring yoga teachers and adventurers of all kinds who’re seeking to surf in a tropical climate.
Taghazout and Agadir in Morocco: a close destination for a surf trip
Morocco, and more specifically the region of Taghazout and Agadir, has quickly become a reference surfing spot for the europeans that seek for new waves out of the old continent. 2-3 hour away by plane from Spain, France or Italy, this is a surf trip that offers chances for everybody. The range of surfing spots is wide: Anchor Point, Banana Point, La Source or Imsouane (and more). They’re ready to take surfers of all levels so, even the beginners will find their ideal spot for improving. Latas Surf has already organized several Surf Camps there and, every time, the results have been great. Right now, there is a “pack” of Latas Surf friends enjoying the 2019 Agadir Surf Camp. Hopefully they’ll bring back a lot of fun stories. Would you like to try it for the 2020 season?
Maldives: a surf trip of another level
Surfing culture in Maldivas is spectacular and requires certain level of experience if you decide to travel there to catch waves. This doesn’t mean that it’s a trip exclusively for pro-surfers. However, intermediate surfers who are ready to take the next step will probably feel themselves outperform quickly their prior experiences. Therefore, is the perfect trip for those seeking a true and meaningful surfing experience. The only requirement, a part from your level, is that you feell good on a boat. Because that’s where you will live! Also, the islands are just wonderful and you’re going to fall in love and wonder what the hell are you doing wherever you live. Last year, our head coach Paco Santana, Ale Morales (Latas Surf CEO) and Juande, went on a boat to take all the waves they could. At their return we couldn’t help feeling absolutely jealous of them. That’s why we highly recommend this surf trip
